Dr Michael Rose BSc, MD, FRCP

Consultant Neurologist

I became a consultant in neurology at King's College Hospital and at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich in 1996.

I did my neurology training at Atkinson Morley's Hospital, the National Hospitals for Neurology, Queen Square, St Bartholomew's Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. I was a Medical Research Council research fellow investigating mitochondrial muscle disease. I spent a year in Rochester, New York gaining further specialist training in muscle disease.

At Queen Elizabeth Hospital I run several general neurology clinics seeing all neurology cases including headaches, strokes, dizziness, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. I established a successful First Seizure clinic at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

I helped to establish a nationally respected regional muscle disease clinic service at King's College Hospital where I see patients with both suspected and proven muscle disease.

I am a co-editor of the Neuromuscular Diseases Cochrane Review Group. I am an active partner in the TREAT-NMD network and a member of the European Neuromuscular Centre research committee. I was a founder member of the Muscle Study Group based in the USA. I have published papers, book chapters, and books on neurology and muscle disease. I am continuing my research in muscle disease with a particular interest in clinical trials and quality of life issues.
